Doing the inner work

Doing the inner work

Doing the inner work is something that we don’t often do. Our energy is mostly projected outward, whether that’s towards other people, our work, hobbies, or something else. It’s not very often that we take the time to pause, and dive into the layers of our own beliefs and mindset.

Understanding our inner Self

Taking time out to understand our inner Self can be challenging, scary, and emotional! It’s not something that can be rushed, or over and done with in one session. Going inwards is a process of uncovering limiting beliefs and understanding what our beliefs even are! It’s figuring out why we think the way we do. And most importantly, it’s understanding how to change our perception to something that serves us, rather than hinders our life’s progress. Change of any kind is not something we humans generally like or tolerate well. It usually takes us outside of our comfort zone, and goes against the grain of what we know and what’s familiar. It can take a conscious and massive effort to break mental patterns and habits, in order to shift our thinking into a new space.

DOMs (delayed onset mental soreness)!

I started boxing just over a year ago, and I love it! But I remember the first time I walked into the boxing gym, I was so nervous, intimidated, and had no idea what to expect. But now, even though I’m very aware that there is still so much to learn, I feel more confident and excited every time I walk into the gym. Doing the physical work is just the same as doing the mental work. At the beginning, it can be super challenging! You’ll feel tired, have DOMs (delayed onset muscles soreness) but for the brain/mind (delayed onset mental soreness!), and it can be exhausting. You’ll realise there is so much still to learn, which can be overwhelming, and also humbling. But the more we push against the boundaries of our comfort zone and expand our conscious awareness, the greater our capacity for creating a truly great life becomes.

Finding the right coach

Finding the right coach can be absolutely KEY to feeling comfortable enough to get vulnerable. Being vulnerable takes strength and courage, and it’s not something any person can possibly do unless we feel safe and supported. The right coach for you will be someone who listens carefully to your story, thoughts, and opinions without judgement. They will encourage you through the tough moments, and celebrate with you through your breakthroughs. They will want you to win at life, and have an abundant mindset! There is no room for envy, jealousy or tall-poppy syndrome when opening up and being vulnerable, that’s for sure.
