How often should I have Reiki?

‘How often should I have Reiki’ is a question I get asked all the time by clients and prospective clients. The answer is…it depends! Everyone is different, and has different needs and priorities, so the best thing is to listen to your intuition. However, in saying that, here are some insights that might help you decide what is best for you.

Reiki to help with a specific issue or problem

One reason clients come in for Reiki (energy healing) is to help with a specific issue or problem. They could be going through a relationship break up, changing jobs, feeling stuck, going through grief, or some other event. Reiki is amazing to help people work through their challenging life circumstances. In such situations, I would recommend coming in for Reiki on a regular basis. This might be once a week (no more often than that, as this allows time for your body to integrate). If once a week is too difficult with schedules or finances, once a fortnight is just as valuable. My recommendation is to keep coming in regularly until such a time where your situation has dissolved or resolved, and you’re feeling better again.

Energy healing for maintenance

After working through your challenging situation and once you feel better, you might like to continue doing Reiki for energy maintenance. You might choose to drop your sessions back to once every 3 or 4 weeks, or even once ever 6 weeks if you like! How often you choose to come in will depend on your schedule, finances, and how much Reiki has helped you overcome whatever your situation was.

Reiki for energy hygiene

For those sensitive to energy, or are healers, teachers, psychologists, doctors, or carers, I would recommend Reiki on a very regular basis. Energy healing helps you to maintain a high vibrational state. If you are energy sensitive, or work with people in potentially low vibrational states, it is imperative to clear your own energy field regularly. If you allow your energy to drop too low, there is potential you will take on others’ negative energy, drain your own energy quickly, or burnout. Even worse, you could open yourself up to potential energy or psychic attacks. As a full time, professional Reiki healer, I have distant Reiki myself on a weekly basis. If I miss a week, I really notice it! And if I miss more than one week in a row, I have had the challenging experience of psychic attacks. The one thing that helps? Having regular Reiki healing!

Stress, anxiety or mental health illnesses

If you are someone who has an intense or full-on job, I would encourage you to come in more often for Reiki. Or if you are someone who experiences high amounts of stress, anxiety, depression, or suffers mental health problems, coming in for Reiki on a regular basis is also recommended. How often is up to you, but if possible, once a fortnight on a regular basis is recommended

It’s a matter of priorities

Ultimately how often you choose to come in for Reiki will depend on your priorities. If you choose to spend your money and time on going out, drinks and socializing, that’s completely fine! Just ensure that you are also looking after your health and wellbeing. For me personally, my absolute priority is my health, so I tend to spend a lot of money on health-related activities such as energy healing, exercise, wellness education etc. There is no judgement either way and there is no better and worse scenario, only what is right for you. Find out what is YOUR highest priority, and then you can make decisions based around that.
