Reiki and Spirituality

Clients often ask me about Reiki and spirituality. Is Reiki a spiritual practice? Do I need to be spiritual to have a Reiki treatment? What is Reiki exactly, and how is it a spiritual practice?

These are all good questions! The short answer is yes, Reiki is a spiritual practice, but no, you don’t have to be spiritual or be of a particular faith to have a Reiki treatment. Reiki is open to anyone and everyone.

What is Reiki?

‘Reiki’ is Japanese for spiritual or universal energy, and refers to the life force energy or qi that is both within us and everywhere around us. When we are depleted in energy, we can manifest dis-ease in our mind, body and life in general. Reiki can both help to dissolve any energy blockages in your body, and simultaneously boost your energy, like charging up your phone! After a Reiki session, most clients report feeling more calm, peaceful and grounded, and in a happier and more positive mood.

Reiki is a holistic practice

Reiki practitioners treat the mind, body and spirit holistically. Reiki itself is energy or life force, and it is the belief of Reiki practitioners that we are all made up of energy, and that we are far more than just physical matter. When learning Reiki, students will also participate in meditation practice, which is a way we can connect both to energy, and more deeply to ourselves.

We are energetic beings

When we are depleted in energy, our vibration is lower. We are all energetic beings, and if we are vibrating at a lower level, we will find life much harder. We will attract people and situations that are also of a lower vibration, as it is the law of attraction that states that like will attract life. With Reiki, we can start to lift our vibration by replenishing our energetic body. When we are vibrating at a higher level, we will start to attract people and situations that are also of a higher level.

Raise your vibration

For example, when depleted in energy, our body starts to shift into a state of dis-ease. We might start experiencing headaches and other aches and pains. Our mindset might shift into ‘why me’, and ‘everything is so hard’, and ‘my life sucks’. We have more negative self-talk. Then we start noticing that our friends don’t want to hang around us as often, and we begin to attract other negative-minded people.

Replenish your energy to heal

That will all turn around and shift once we start to replenish our energy. When our vibration is higher, we start to feel better and have more clarity of mind. Our body starts to heal and we have more vitality. We start to have different conversations with people, and are more positive and vibrant. Life is now more enjoyable!
