Stuck or at a crossroads in life?

Feeling stuck, or at a crossroads in life? This can be a challenging place to be in mentally, emotionally, and energetically. If you’re feeling the struggle, you’re not alone.

Spring is the season of change

The season of Spring is a time of transformation, change, and rebirth. These themes are definitely springing up with many of my clients at the moment! I’m finding that within this theme of feeling stuck or at a crossroads, there are two main groups. The first is those who are not happy, but also have no idea what they want to do. The second group is those who know what they want in an ideal world, but the idea of change or letting go of their current position is very scary.

Feeling stuck

For those who are not happy, but also have no idea what they want to do, this can be a very frustrating place to be in! The feeling of being stuck involves a combination of emotions, such as depression, anger, frustration, overwhelm, anxiety, and more. When you combine these with no direction out, it can be downright exhausting, leading to a total lack of motivation and inspiration. This can lead to an easy slide downhill into depression, apathy, and burnout.

The fear is real

For those who know what they want to do, but have no idea how to do it or how to let go of their safety net or comfort zone, this can be terrifying and overwhelming all at once. The fear feels real, and can be all-consuming. People in this situation are often blocked by a fear of lack of security, a fear of the unknown, and a fear of lack of financial or emotional stability.

Moving towards pleasure and away from pain

It’s in our nature to move towards pleasure and away from pain. When feeling stuck with no way out, the pain can be overbearing. Also, if you’re feeling stuck between unhappy but in your comfort zone, and potential happy but fear of the unknown, this crossroads can be equally painful. So what to do?

Here are 5 tips that could help you find your way out of the crossroad situation you’re in:

5 tips to find your way out of feeling stuck:

1. Focus on the things you can control. We have no control over other people, only ourselves. Start by doing positive things that are within your power, such as: exercising, meditating, eating well, drinking plenty of water, getting out into nature, breathing fresh air, leaning on your support network, and booking in for Reiki or a Coaching session. Once you focus on the things you can control, you’ll slowly start to come back into your personal power once more. This will in turn start to shift your mind out of victim mode, and into a more pro-active mindset.

2. Focus on the solution, not the problem. What you put your focus and energy onto, grows bigger. If you are focusing on all the problems, your mind will continue to find more and more problems, and deplete your energy. If you focus on solutions, the mind has no choice but to find the answers! The answers might not necessary be what you hoped or thought would happen, but if you open your mind up to possibilities, you may be surprise at what comes up!

3. Book in for a Reiki healing session! If you are in a low vibrational energetic state, you’re only going to attract other people, ideas, and opportunities that are also at that same energetic vibration. For example, if you are 3/10 and feeling low, there is no way you’re going to attract a 10/10 job, or find a 10/10 partner! If you’re energetically, mentally, and emotionally depleted, your first job is to raise your vibration! Once you have more energy, you’ll be able to think more clearly, and be more open to possible solutions.

4. Book in for a Coaching session. Sometimes it can help to talk to someone who doesn’t know your friends, family, or work colleagues. A coach can help you sort out your thoughts, shift your mindset and perspective, and assist you in finding a way forward. When you’re stuck in your own mind, we often repeat thought patterns over and over again. A coach can help pull you out of fear mode, and give you encouragement to make decisions. A coach is on your side, your biggest cheerleader, and has your back even when you’re feeling at your worst.

5. Take some time off. If you are burnt out, exhausted, and mentally and emotionally drained, sometimes the thing you need the most is REST! If you are utterly depleted, there is no point trying to figure out your life situation in this state. It’s more important to rest, recover, and heal. Your body is calling out for some much needed down time. Take a holiday, take sick or stress leave, spend time in bed or in nature to recover. Once you have replenished your energy stores, then you can start to think about your next steps forward.
