The Moment I Stopped Doubting Myself

The Moment I Stopped Doubting Myself

The moment I stopped doubting myself was the moment everything began to change.

Confidence is attractive, but self-trust is grounded. Confidence is polished, expressive, and easy to recognise. You can see it in the way someone speaks, carries themselves, and presents to the world. At its core, confidence is the belief in your ability to do something well. It’s often built through experience, skills, and past success.

Self-trust on the other hand, runs deeper. It’s a steady, internal reliance on your own instincts, judgement, and inner knowing — regardless of how things turn out.

While confidence can shift depending on the situation, self-trust is foundational. It’s the thing that holds you steady underneath it all. You don’t always see it straight away, but you feel and sense it.

It’s the energy that other people find calming and grounding to be around, even in chaotic situations.

When Confidence Isn’t Enough

For a long time, I thought I was a confident person. And in many ways, I was.

When it came to things I was good at, like Reiki healing and spiritual work, I felt solid, certain, and comfortable in myself. But I started to notice something…that confidence didn’t always hold.

When things became uncertain, when I was in unfamiliar environments, or when I felt out of my depth, my confidence dropped. And that’s where the difference between confidence and self-trust really started to reveal itself.

The Moment Everything Shifted

There was a moment where this became very clear to me. I was in a group environment, and everyone was behaving in a certain way, following the instructor without question.

But my body was having a completely different reaction. I felt uneasy. On edge. Like something wasn’t right. And yet, because everyone else seemed okay with it, I started to question myself.

Maybe it’s me.
Maybe I’m the problem.
Maybe I’m overreacting.

So I ignored what I was feeling.

I overrode my body, pushed past my intuition, and tried to make myself fit into what everyone else was doing. I essentially abandoned myself.

What Happened Afterwards

It wasn’t until later, when I was back in my own space, that things started to shift.

Away from the noise and the group. Just me, and my own energy. As I began to process what had happened, I realised something important. My nervous system hadn’t been wrong. It had been activated because something wasn’t in alignment.

And the more I sat with it, the more certain I became. Not confused or unsure.

Certain.

Where Self-Trust Was Built

That was the moment self-trust really began for me.

Not in a calm meditation or a perfectly aligned situation. But in the aftermath of realising I hadn’t listened to myself. So instead of pushing the feelings away, I let them come up. The frustration and anger. The clarity underneath it all.

I gave myself the space to feel it, process it, and then reflect on what had actually happened. And I realised something powerful. If I had trusted myself in that moment, I might have responded differently.

Maybe I would have spoken up more. Maybe I would have stepped away. Maybe I simply would have stayed connected to myself instead of trying to fit in.

That experience showed me the cost of not trusting myself. But more importantly, it showed me the power of starting to.

Why Self-Trust Changes Everything

When someone truly trusts themselves, something shifts. They stop bending themselves to fit into other people’s expectations. They stop overriding their own body. They stop seeking permission to be who they are.

There’s a groundedness to them. A quiet certainty that doesn’t need to prove anything. And people feel that. Because self-trust isn’t loud, but it is powerful.

It’s the difference between someone who follows the room and someone who is anchored in themselves, no matter what the room is doing.

This Is Where Mindset and Energy Come Together

This is why self-trust isn’t just a mindset shift. And it’s not just an energetic shift either.

It’s both.

It’s learning how to recognise what you’re feeling, and then having the capacity to stay with it instead of overriding it. Through energy healing, you learn how to regulate your nervous system, clear what isn’t yours, and strengthen your connection to your own energy.

Through mindset work, you learn how to shift the patterns that cause you to doubt yourself in the first place. And together, they bring you back home to you, and your truth.
