Riding the Waves of Kundalini Awakening
Over the Christmas and New Year period, I was riding the waves of kundalini awakening! Each powerful wave rises and falls like the ocean, pulling me into deeper layers of understanding, higher frequencies of light and love, and an ever-expanding process of integration.
Kundalini awakening is not a single event; it’s a cyclical, intelligent force of energy that unlocks and unleashes knowledge, emotions and deeper understanding in layers. It’s been guiding me through healing, remembrance, and embodiment for years now, but over this break, it hit its greatest depth yet…
Paradox of kundalini
With each wave, I feel myself moving further into truth – both spiritual and human. The light expands, but so does the work of grounding that light into the body, the nervous system, and everyday life. This is the paradox of kundalini: transcendence and grounded embodiment happening at the same time.
What a Wave of Kundalini Actually Feels Like
A kundalini wave usually begins subtly, like water starting to simmer on a stove. There’s a low rumble in my system, and my body starts to vibrate. I feel restless, and jittery, unable to sit still. My nervous system feels on edge and it’s hard to focus as my subconscious prepares for something to move, release, or emerge.
Then I start hearing singing and light language sounds in my mind. It reminds me of a mermaid toy I had as a child that sang underwater! When I first started hearing it, it felt weirdly familiar. Along with the sound comes an irresistible urge to move, sway, shake and dance, as the energy starts to rise.
The Crown Chakra Opening to Source
As the wave intensifies, suddenly my crown chakra opens super wide. It feels like a massive chasm opening directly to Source energy. The light is not flowing in or out; it simply is. Inside me, outside me, and all around me at once. My awareness expands into it.
The singing grows louder, the buzzing in my cells gets stronger, until my entire body feels like it’s vibrating at a frequency beyond words. It’s both incredible with the light and sounds, and at the same time, so intense and uncomfortable. Kundalini is not gentle, that’s for sure.
Serpent Energy, Visions, and Light Language
This energy builds and builds, and by the time Kundalini reaches her peak, the energy feels like the water on the stove is now boiling. Every cell feels electrofied. I have wild visions – my throat and tongue become a snake, a silver-white serpent starts rising up my spine from the base to my crown and beyond, and my body sways in a serpentine motion. Light language pours through me as my consciousness shifts into another dimension, while at the same time, still remaining aware of my physical body.
Often, my heart feels like it’s going to explode, it opens so wide and it’s so intense, with white light beaming out. This is Shakti—the divine feminine, the kundalini serpent, the Mother energy that lives within us all. Sometimes I see starseeds or Shamanic guides, but most often it is my own inner Source awakening itself, remembering itself, moving through me with precision and purpose.
When Kundalini Moves Through the Body
Kundalini awakening doesn’t just happen in the spiritual realms—it moves through the physical body, the nervous system, and the cells. In the days or weeks leading up to a wave, I often experience physical pain or flare-ups in specific areas in my body. These are not random. They show me where energy is still stuck, where healing is ready to occur.
Trauma, stuck emotions, ancestral memories, and even past-life experiences live in our cellular memory. As kundalini works in layers, areas that once felt “resolved” can flare up again, revealing deeper roots beneath the surface. Emotionally, I become incredibly sensitive, super aware that something is about to surface and be released.
Downloads, Insights, and Ancestral Healing
It usually takes around 24 hours after the peak of a kundalini wave, then the insights arrive, super fast, straight into my mind. Sometimes they come spontaneously; other times they’re triggered by a book, a podcast, or a video. Suddenly, everything connects. Past experiences rearrange themselves into meaning.
Ancestral emotions often rise at this stage – emotions passed down from generation to generation. Anger, grief, pain that isn’t solely mine, yet lives within my cells. I gain a profound understanding of my parents, my lineage, their choices, and their limitations. There is zero blame, I actually find my level of compassion and empathy increase, and feelings of love and understanding permeate through my body. Through this process of release, generational patterns begin to dissolve.
The Exhaustion After the Storm
As the wave subsides over several days, I’m often left completely depleted. It can feel like my cells have been wrung dry, like my limbs have no bones, and even standing up is too much. This exhaustion is real – it’s the nervous system recalibrating after intense energetic movement.
Slowly, energy returns. And that’s when the real work begins.
Integration: Where Healing Becomes Embodied
Integration is where the true shift occurs. It’s the process of unpacking insights, sorting what’s mine from what I’ve inherited, and learning how to regulate the nervous system in daily life (this is the hardest part!). Kundalini energy runs through the nerves themselves, which is why it can feel like electricity, burning sensations, and unexplained physical symptoms.
This phase requires so much patience, grounding, and self-compassion. It’s about bringing spiritual truth into the body, the ego-mind, relationships, and real-world choices. Without integration, awakening can feel totally destabilising. With it, awakening becomes truly transformative.
My Kundalini Awakening Journey
My kundalini was first activated in March 2022 by a healer in Daylesford. That year, snakes appeared everywhere – in my dreams, psychic visions, and during Reiki sessions – often black, aggressive and terrifying. In April 2023, a lightning-bolt kundalini activation left me unable to walk, see, or function for days.
From 2023, my body has been going through what’s often called the “kundalini purifying fire.” Old pain surfaces through intense physical symptoms, particularly in the lower chakras. It wasn’t until early 2024 that I found practitioners who could truly support me. And now, at the end of 2025 and beginning of 2026, something profound has shifted.
Healing at the Root, Not the Surface
Recently, it felt like something ancient lifted out of my body entirely – like pulling up a weed by the deep root, not just trimming the leaves. I psychically saw a vast web of interconnected roots rising from my root chakra: ancestral patterns, generational trauma, deeply embedded programs.
After Christmas, without access to my usual support, my body forced me into stillness. I slept for days. Kundalini moved continuously, bringing download after download. And then, something incredible happened – as I began to process these downloads, the physical pain began to fade. My energy returned. Healing landed deeper than ever before.
Becoming a Clearer Channel for Spirit
Healing is layered, like an onion. I don’t know if this was the final layer – but it was a deep one. As old patterns dissolve, I feel less defined by identity and more open as a clear channel for Spirit. My internal pathways are being cleared so higher frequencies like light language, Seichim Reiki, and Source energy can flow through with greater ease.
At the same time, there is a strong call to ground. To remember that I am both Spirit and human. My Reiki practice has deepened not only spiritually, but practically—working through the body, the nervous system, and real-world integration.
Living in the Messy Middle
As I continue integrating and riding the waves of kundalini, my relationships are changing. My perception of the world is different. It’s not always easy to explain this to those who knew the old version of me. I still get triggered at times, but I’m learning to trust the process.
I’m okay being in the messy middle. I know how quickly things can shift. I trust the trinity of Spirit, my mind, and my body to guide me forward. The release and letting go of fear has allowed me to surrender to the process.
