Sacred Fire: The Wild Side of Energy Healing
Sometimes healing doesn’t feel like gentle relaxation…sometimes it feels like sacred fire moving through the body, burning away what is ready to transform.
Most people imagine energy healing as calm, peaceful, and soothing. And sometimes it is exactly that.
But anyone who has walked the path of deep healing knows there is another side to it. A side that feels less like a gentle breeze, and more like intense energy moving through the system.
Not all healing is soft. Sometimes healing is powerful, confronting, and deeply transformational. Sometimes healing burns away what no longer belongs.
When Healing Feels Intense
Real healing doesn’t just make you feel relaxed, it moves energy.
And when energy begins to move, things can shift in ways we didn’t expect. Old emotions surface. Buried memories rise. Tension stored in the body for years begins to release.
Many people experience this as waves of emotion – crying, anger, exhaustion, or a deep sense that something within them is changing. This isn’t something to fear, but rather can often bring a sense of relief.
Often it is a sign that the body and energy system are finally letting go of what has been held inside for far too long, as the sacred fire of transformation begins to move.
Fire as a Symbol of Transformation
Across cultures and spiritual traditions, fire has always symbolised transformation. Fire destroys what is stagnant or no longer needed. But it also purifies. It clears space. And it turns raw material into something entirely new.
In the same way, powerful healing energies can sometimes feel like sacred fire moving through the body and energy field, illuminating old patterns and dissolving emotional armour that has been carried for years.
It can feel intense at times, but this sacred fire is not here to harm – it is here to transform.
The Sacred Fire of Seichim
While traditional Reiki is often experienced as gentle and calming, many practitioners describe Seichim Reiki as a stronger, more activating current of energy.
Some feel it as warmth or heat flowing through the hands. Others describe it as a powerful energetic current that moves deeper through emotional layers, helping to release energy that has been stuck for years.
In my own experience, the first time I encountered Seichim energy I didn’t even know that was what I was receiving!
I had booked in for a healing with a Hawaiian massage therapist and Reiki Master who offered a beautiful two-hour session combining Lomi Lomi massage and Reiki. But during the healing, something unusual began to happen.
My healers’ hands seemed to vibrate as she channelled energy, and suddenly my own body began vibrating in response. My legs started shaking, my body moving on the table, and my palms burned with heat.
I had experienced energetic movement before, but this felt different – stronger and more alive somehow.
At one point she told me I needed to begin working more with my left hand (the feminine side) and she drew symbols across my upper back. My arms began moving on their own as if responding to the energy being activated.
She also shared that I was deeply connected to the energy of Sekhmet, the Egyptian lioness goddess associated with fierce healing power. At the time, I didn’t fully understand what she meant.
But something about that experience touched a place deep in my soul.
Kundalini and the Fire of Awakening
In many spiritual traditions, kundalini energy is described as a powerful purifying fire that rises through the spine, awakening the energy centres of the body.
It is often symbolised by a serpent – a coiled energy that lies dormant until something activates it.
When kundalini begins to awaken, people can experience powerful energetic sensations: heat, vibration, spontaneous body movements, emotional releases, and profound shifts in awareness. Looking back now, I realise that the healing I received that day was doing far more than simply relaxing my body.
Over the months that followed, I began to experience powerful symbolic imagery during meditation and Reiki sessions, including repeated visions of snakes and a strong connection to lioness energy.
At the time I didn’t fully understand what was happening, but in hindsight it was clear that a deeper energetic awakening had been initiated.
Seichim energy, with its Egyptian roots and strong transformative current, can sometimes resonate with the same purifying fire that kundalini represents — helping to awaken deeper layers of the energetic system.
Healing Is Not Always Comfortable
We often imagine healing as something that should feel immediately peaceful. But real transformation can be messy. It asks us to release identities, beliefs, and emotional wounds we may have carried for years.
This is where the sacred fire of healing comes in. Not as something destructive, but as something cleansing. Burning away what no longer belongs so that something stronger and more authentic can emerge.
The Path of the Energy Healer
Every healer’s journey unfolds in stages. Reiki often opens the door, introducing us to the world of energy, intuition, and subtle healing.
But for some practitioners, that is only the beginning.
Over time, many feel a quiet pull toward deeper energetic systems and teachings. A desire to understand energy more intimately, and to work with transformation at a deeper level.
