The Power Of Intuition

The power of intuition is something that continues to amaze me, even after years of practicing and teaching Reiki. Sometimes it shows up as a quiet nudge. Other times, it’s a full-blown “wow, how did I know that?” kind of moment. And every so often, it’s so strong, so obvious, that it reminds me how deeply connected we all are — if we’re willing to listen.

Awake at 2.30am?

A few weeks ago, my dad was booked in for an angiogram. The night before, I did all my usual energy hygiene — cleansing, clearing, cord-cutting — the works. I thought, I’m going to sleep like a log tonight. When my energy is clear, I’m usually out cold until morning! But if I wake up during the night, it usually means one of three things: I’ve picked up some negative energy, we’re in full moon or eclipse season (we weren’t), or I’m having a wave of kundalini energy (it was quiet). So when I sat bolt upright at 2:30 am, completely awake, I was confused.

Spiritual alignment

I checked in with myself and my energy was clear. Nothing felt off. I thought, this is so weird… but okay. I got up to read a book and eventually fell back asleep. At 5:55 am (signalling spiritual alignment!) I woke up again. I had a feeling the reason would reveal itself later.

Reiki-ing the situation

That morning, before taking Dad to hospital, I decided to “Reiki the situation” — a powerful technique I teach in Reiki Level 2 (Okuden). It’s where you send Reiki to the overall energy of a situation, rather than a specific person (which requires verbal consent). As I tuned in, I immediately saw Dad snoring in bed (lol). But then his guardian angel appeared! It was the same one I’d seen while in Japan — alongside another female angel. I could even see Mum, chatting away to this new angel like they were meeting for the first time! I was captivated by this vision…

Guardian angels galore!

Then suddenly, my grandparents appeared! Sitting side by side, glowing with white light. I burst into tears. It was so moving — Dad was completely surrounded by love and light. I knew he’d be okay. When I tuned into the actual procedure during this situational Reiki, my intuition confirmed it. He would be fine. I just knew it.

Hard to breathe

Later that morning, during my own distant Reiki healing (yes, even Reiki Masters need Reiki too!), something strange happened. I found it hard to breathe, as if an elephant was sitting on my chest. I took deep breaths and reminded myself: this might not be mine. My intuitive Reiki healer didn’t pick up on anything around my chest, which told me I was could possibly be feeling Dad’s energy in advance of his angiogram.

Hold the faith

I took Dad to hospital, then went to drop off a baking dish at a friends house. Her partner told me a story about when he himself had gone through an angiogram at the exact same hospital, a man went into cardiac arrest right next to him and ended up in a code blue situation! Not exactly what I needed to hear while Dad was mid-procedure! But because I completely trusted my intuition and what I’d seen that morning, I didn’t spiral into worry. I held faith.

Sure enough, when Dad called later, he was fine. No stent needed. Arteries all clear. Huge relief!

The intuitive magic continues…

But the intuitive magic didn’t stop there. That afternoon, while juicing celery (as you do), my right little finger suddenly turned bright red. It was so weird! I hadn’t touched anything hot, no bites, no burns — just a random glowing finger! A few minutes later, Dad called to say he was ready for pick-up. When he climbed into my car, he showed me his right arm — bright red from the iodine dye they’d used. Of course! I’d been picking up on his energy again (interestingly the little finger is also a point along the heart meridian too!)

Dad home at 2.30am!

Later over dinner, I told him everything. When I mentioned waking at 2:30am for no reason, he laughed — that’s when he’d gotten home! He’d received a late-night SOS from an elderly lady who’d fallen and needed help. So while he was helping her, I was waking up out of nowhere — clearly my intuition was telling me something had happened! Everything made sense. The timing, the sensations, the energy. The answers always come; sometimes you just need to wait for the pieces to fall into place.

Before learning Reiki, I was always sensitive and empathetic, but I didn’t understand intuition the way I do now. Through Reiki — especially Reiki Level 2 (Okuden) — my intuition has strengthened beyond what I thought possible. I can clearly discern what’s mine and what’s not mine. I know when I’m picking up someone else’s energy, and I’ve learned how to clear it, so I don’t carry it around all day.

Reiki has given me the tools to trust myself. It’s helped me blank my mind when I need to receive clear intuitive messages, without my ego or fears getting in the way. Sometimes intuition brings insights I don’t want — like when I sensed a venue I loved wouldn’t work out, even though I really wanted it to. But the more you trust intuition, the more life flows. You stop forcing, and start aligning. 

And that’s the magic I want everyone to experience.
