The Moment You Stop Fighting Yourself
The moment you stop fighting yourself is the moment where you realise the hardest battle isn’t with the world… it’s with yourself.
For years, I thought healing meant becoming someone better. Being more disciplined, having better routines, being more confident. There always seemed to be another layer to work on, another habit to change, another fear to overcome.
Without even realising it, I’d turned healing into another achievement. Another mountain to climb.
And because I love learning and personal growth, I became very good at climbing. Until one day, something shifted deep inside. Instead of asking, “How do I become better?” I found myself asking a completely different question.
“Rather than trying to fix or change who I am…what if I started accepting myself exactly as I am?”
Becoming Someone Else Was Never The Goal
Looking back over my life, I’ve always been someone who gives everything my all. When I worked in corporate HR, I worked hard. When I taught yoga full-time, I poured my heart into every class. When I started my Reiki business, I wanted every client to leave feeling seen, heard, and deeply cared for.
I’ve never been driven by money. I’ve always been driven by passion and purpose.
But unbeknownst to me, passion and purpose were only part of the story. I didn’t realise that below the surface there was also a need to achieve, people pleasing tendencies, and an insatiable curiosity about how the universe and spirit worked.
Eventually purpose and passion quietly turned into pressure. If I could just work a little harder…help a few more people…fit one more task into my day…
I was exhausted trying to achieve and meet some invisible expectations, all in the name of passion and purpose.
The Lesson That Kept Coming Back
What’s fascinated me most about healing is that the lessons don’t disappear. They come back.
Again and again.
Not because we haven’t learned them. But because each time we’re invited to understand them a little more deeply.
For me, one lesson has appeared in countless different disguises. Overworking, people pleasing, and taking on too much responsibility. Feeling like I had to earn rest instead of simply allowing it.
Every time I thought I’d mastered the lesson, life would gently bring it back around. Not as punishment, but as an invitation to let go just a little more and trust myself more deeply. To soften a little more.
I Didn’t Need A New Life…
I needed to tune into myself more deeply. One of the biggest realisations I’ve had recently is that very little on the outside actually needed to change.
The deeper work wasn’t about changing my business, or becoming a different person, or achieving more.
It was about changing the conversation happening inside my own mind. For so long, I’d unconsciously believed that my worth came from what I did, how much I achieved, and how much I helped others.
It wasn’t until I slowed down enough to really listen to myself that I realised something surprising. I wasn’t actually craving success anymore.
I was craving peace.
Not because I’d lost my ambition. But because I was finally beginning to understand that my body just couldn’t continue the way I’d been pushing it, and that peace isn’t something we earn after we’ve worked hard enough.
Peace is something we choose.
The Fire Doesn’t Need To Go Out
One of the biggest fears I had was that if I stopped pushing myself so hard, I’d somehow lose my drive, or that I’d become lazy and unmotivated. That I’d lose the fire that’s always lived inside me.
But I’ve since realised something beautiful. The fire will always live inside me (hello fiery Sagittarius)! The goal isn’t to extinguish that fire, but to stop letting it run like a bushfire.
For years, I’d fuelled it with pressure, urgency, proving, striving and “go, go, go.”
Now I’m learning to tend it more like a campfire. Steady and grounded. Warm, but still quietly powerful. But no longer burning fiercely at the rate of knots.
It’s still a work-in-progress, but as I slowly unwind and do less, the more peace I’ve found in my body and mind. Because I’m no longer fighting myself every step of the way.
This Is The Healing Nobody Talks About
When most people think about healing, they imagine becoming happier, more confident, less anxious, or more successful. There are millions of videos and podcasts on how to earn more money and become ‘free’.
But I think one of the deepest forms of healing is much quieter. It’s the moment you stop believing you have to become someone else or do more in order to earn rest, love, belonging, or acceptance.
It’s the moment you stop measuring your value by your productivity, the moment you stop trying to outrun yourself.
The moment you realise that perhaps there was never anything fundamentally wrong with you in the first place. Sure there were wounds to heal, patterns to understand, emotions to process.
But underneath all of that…
You’ve always been enough.
This Is Why I Created ‘The Sovereign Self’
If there’s one thing I’ve learned through Reiki healing, psychology, coaching, and my own awakening journey, it’s this: Transformation doesn’t happen because someone tells you who to become. It happens because you finally understand yourself underneath all the conditioning.
That’s exactly what we’ll be exploring in my upcoming 10-week online program. Not how to become someone different, but how to meet yourself more deeply and accept yourself fully.
To recognise the patterns you’ve been living from.
In order to accept ourselves fully, we first must become aware of what lies beneath in our subconscious mind. To understand our emotions, needs, relationships, reactions, and the protective parts of yourself that have been trying so hard to keep you safe.
Because when you stop fighting yourself…you finally create the space for real self love and radical self acceptance to flow.
And in my experience, that’s where the deepest healing begins.
