The Day I Realised Reiki Wasn’t Just Relaxation
The day I realised Reiki wasn’t just relaxation, was the day I started to understand just how deeply energy healing could affect my life.
Like many people, some of my earliest experiences with Reiki were incredibly calming. I’d lie on the table, feel my body soften, my mind become quieter, and walk away feeling lighter and more grounded.
And honestly, if that was all Reiki ever did, I’d still think it was wonderful!
We live in a world where so many of us are stressed, overstimulated and constantly switched on. Having an hour where your body can deeply relax, receive Reiki healing and simply be is incredibly valuable.
But the longer I worked with Reiki, the more I realised that feeling relaxed was only the beginning.
I Went to Daylesford to Relax
Every year I’d book a few days away by myself to reset. I’d meditate, journal, spend time in nature, have energy healings and generally give myself some space away from everyday life.
So in March 2022, I took myself away to Daylesford for one of my solo spiritual retreats. On the first day, I booked a two-hour Hawaiian massage and Reiki healing.
I was looking forward to relaxing, unwinding and destressing.
And initially, that’s exactly what happened.
The massage began, my body softened, and eventually I drifted into that delicious almost-hypnotic state where you’re somewhere between awake and asleep.
Then the Reiki started. And my body began to shake.
I’d experienced energetic sensations before, so some trembling didn’t particularly concern me. But this was different. My body was really vibrating. Trembling, twitching and shaking far more strongly than I’d experienced during Reiki before. I remember lying there thinking: Okay… something strange is happening here.
What I didn’t realise at the time was that my practitioner wasn’t working only with Usui Reiki.
She had also begun channelling Seichim Reiki.
Then Things Got Interesting
During the healing, she began receiving imagery around Egyptian energy, including an Egyptian woman and a lioness. Afterwards, she gave me a Goddess Sekhmet invocation.
I can’t really explain why, but something about it resonated deeply. Not intellectually. It felt like it landed in my bones. I walked out of that treatment feeling incredible, but also knowing I’d experienced something very different.
And over the months that followed, my spiritual experiences intensified dramatically.
I began experiencing more vivid psychic images. The trembling and energetic sensations became stronger. I started repeatedly psychically seeing black snakes everywhere, having vivid dreams, and eventually entered what I came to understand as a profound kundalini awakening process.
Looking back, I see that Daylesford Seichim healing as an important threshold in my own journey.
Something much, much deeper had shifted.
Reiki Had Opened the Door
By that point, I already knew Reiki could be powerful.
I’d experienced Usui Reiki healing for years, I already had my business and was working as a Reiki healer full time. I knew the difference it could make to my physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
But this experience made me realise how much more there was to explore. I became fascinated by Seichim because it felt different from the Usui Reiki I’d already come to know and love.
It didn’t replace Usui Reiki for me. It expanded my understanding of energy.
Over the years, my experiences with Seichim have been some of the most personally transformative experiences of my spiritual journey. I’ve experienced profound emotional healing, changes in how I see myself and periods of deep personal and spiritual transformation.
My own journey with energy has sometimes been intense because my spiritual journey has been intense. That doesn’t mean everyone who receives or learns Seichim Reiki will experience energy the way I do.
But for me, it made one thing very clear: There was so much more to energy healing than simply feeling relaxed.
Relaxation Is Healing. But Healing Isn’t Always Relaxation.
This is a very important distinction!
Sometimes healing really is lying on a Reiki table and finally allowing your body to soften. Sometimes it’s falling asleep. Other times it’s feeling lighter and calmer when you leave.
But healing can also be a buried emotion finally coming to the surface.
It can be becoming aware of a pattern you hadn’t noticed before. It can be recognising that something in your life no longer feels right. You can be reconnected with a part of yourself you’d pushed aside.
And sometimes healing is an experience that makes you curious enough to start asking much bigger questions.
That’s what happened to me.
The more I experienced energy healing, the more curious I became about energy, spirituality, and even spiritual experiences like channelling light language and starseeds.
These things are not necessarily a part of Reiki. But Reiki opened me up to more and more of the spirit world than ever before.
Seichim Became Another Part of the Journey
One of the things I love about energy healing is that you don’t have to choose one modality and decide that’s it forever. Learning Seichim didn’t mean leaving Usui Reiki behind. Quite the opposite.
Usui Reiki is still foundational to my work and my own healing practice. Seichim built upon Usui, and gave me another way of working with energy.
That’s why I don’t see learning different practices of Reiki and energy healing as collecting qualifications. For me, it’s about exploration, experience and curiosity.
It’s allowed me to develop a deeper relationship with energy over time. And the more I’ve learned, the more I’ve realised how much there still is to discover.
Are You Curious About What’s on the Other Side?
If you’ve already learned Reiki and you’ve found yourself wondering what else exists within the world of energy healing, you might understand exactly what I’m talking about.
Sometimes there’s simply a feeling of: I want to go deeper.
My next Seichim Reiki Level 1 course in Melbourne is 3–4 October, where we’ll begin exploring Seichim energy, its foundations and how you can start incorporating it into your own healing journey and Reiki practice.
You don’t have to abandon what you already know, as Seichim builds upon Usui Reiki. This is simply expanding into a different level and dimension of energy healing.
