Self Reflection Journal Prompts

Self Reflection Journal Prompts

Self reflection journal prompts

The power of self-reflection journal prompts is that in diving more deeply within ourselves, we not only understand our Self better, but other people too. In reflecting upon our thoughts, behaviours and choices, we can start to see a bigger picture. It’s so easy to get bogged down in the day to day. But as we approach the end of the year, it’s a great time to stop and reflect on your accomplishments, the lessons learned, and the things you are grateful for this year.

1. What is one challenge you have overcome this year?

Life is full of ups and downs, and the hurdles we face are what cause us to grow, become stronger, and more resilient. Even though they are not fun at the time, when we look back, we can often see the bigger picture of why we went through these challenges. We can see how deep we can really dig when push comes to shove, and just how resourceful we can be. Our life’s challenges show us our weak spots, and teach us how to become stronger. Reflect on one major challenge you have overcome this year, and what you did to overcome it.

2. What is one thing you are grateful for this year?

Gratitude gets us out of our head and into our heart. It reminds us to stop overthinking, worrying and planning, and instead feel into our emotions. When we express gratitude it lightens our energy body, and makes us appreciate the things we already have in life. Sometimes we don’t even realise just how grateful we are. It’s so easy to take things and people for granted. Reflect on something you feel immensely grateful for this year, give thanks, and feel it in your heart. It can also help to journal about it, anchoring this feeling even more deeply into your body.

3. What is one big lesson you learned this year?

There are always lessons to be learnt through life’s experiences. No matter what we go through, if we can extract some positive lessons, then we will have gained and grown from it. Take a moment and really think about what you have learnt this year. Oftentimes the lessons we learn are all connected somehow. Maybe you’ve learnt how to set better boundaries, say no, and stop overgiving. Perhaps you’ve learnt to accept yourself for who you really are, and be more authentic in your interactions. Or maybe you’ve learnt a particular skill, studied a topic, or gained a new perspective. Whatever it is, journal what you learnt, and why it is important to you.

4. What is one thing you would like to release going forward?

In learning these life’s lessons, we often realise there are thought patterns or behaviours that you no longer want to continue into the new year. Alternatively, you might feel called to do a big clean out of your home, and release material items that are no longer serving you. In addition to your thoughts and material items, we all carry emotional wounds from past experiences. Perhaps there is a person, a situation or emotions around these things that you are finally feeling ready to release for good? By release these things, you are now creating space for new people, opportunities and relationships to come into your life. Journal your thoughts.

5. What is one thing you would like to manifest for the new year?

This is the fun part! As we clear out the old, there is now more space to focus on calling in your heart’s desires! What would you like to manifest in the new year? This could be a new romantic relationship, new friendships that are more aligned with who you are, or new business collaborations. It could be a new house, new job, or a new business venture. You might like to start a new hobby, pursue a new passion or simply take more time out for fun and play. Let yourself dream, and journal your ideas down.

Self reflection journal prompts

I personally love self-reflection journal prompts! I find journal prompts to be helpful in allowing me to relax and simply write whatever comes to mind. If you’re uncertain, that’s ok too. Take your time, make a cup of tea, and allow your mind to wander. There is no pressure or obligation, and no-one else has to read what you’ve written. This is a personal and private self reflection exercise that is for you, and you alone.

Add Reiki to your manifestations!

If you are a Reiki healer, once you’ve written your goals or desires for the new year, you can also Reiki these goals to help you manifest them! Take notice of what comes up for you when you are giving them Reiki. You might receive intuitive downloads, messages from your Higher Self, or simply get a knowing. Reiki can help to clear energetic and emotional blockages, and align you with your desires. Drop into your heart, and allow Reiki to flow through you, connecting you to your future vision.

Reiki Courses and Reiki Resources

If you need support or help, let me know! You can email me here with any questions. If you are interested in learning more about self-reflection, consider doing a Reiki Course! The practice of Reiki is about tuning inwards, becoming more open to your inner world, and expanding your intuition. You can find out more about Reiki Level 1 here. In Reiki Level 2, you will also learn how to send Reiki to past and current situations, and in Reiki Level 3a, you will learn how to use Reiki to manifest your desires and goals in the future. I also have some online Reiki resources here to help support you on your journey. In addition, I’m launching my brand new Seichim Reiki Level 1 courses next year (dates are live on my website!). Seichim Reiki can add extra power to your Usui Reiki practices, and take your Reiki to another level! Learn more here.
