Reiki is a wonderful tool for anxiety relief! Anxiety affects so many people, and can range from feeling a little anxious, to full blown panic attacks. Anxiety can seem overwhelming, and it can be exhausting, especially if it’s been ongoing for a long time. If this is familiar, Reiki might be just the thing you’re searching for.

Our body remembers

When experiencing anxiety, the mind is often focused on something that may or may not happen in the future. Our minds create thoughts and feeds our imagination with information based on the past. If we have experienced trauma, shock, pain, heartbreak, childhood stress, or other challenging or difficult experiences, our minds and bodies remember these events. 

Negative emotions become our ‘pain body’

Negative emotions and memories get stored in our body and cells as our ‘pain body’. These emotions and memories also get stored in our subconscious mind. If we don’t release the energetic and emotional charge, even the smallest thing can serve as a trigger for those challenging or traumatic past events. 

Our protective mechanism

Those triggers then alert us that something bad or frightening is seemingly about to happen. Our minds and bodies then switch into fight, flight, freeze or fawn mode. This is our protective mechanism. If we’ve had some serious trauma in the past, this protective mechanism often goes straight into overdrive. Our sympathetic nervous system kicks in, which is our stress response to the (perceived) threat. The body then releases stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenalin, and our muscles contract and tense up. 

New ‘normal’

In addition, our parasympathetic nervous system shuts down. This is so we have enough energy to deal with the threat. If we do that over and over due to having ongoing or chronic anxiety, our bodies get used to this stress response feeling. It then becomes our new ‘normal’. If we stay in this mode for too long, it becomes familiar, and that will become our go-to mode. Anything outside of this, for example our rest and relax mode, is no longer familiar and our body will automatically revert back to its stress response mode.

Anxiety and panic attacks

In addition to experiencing these bodily effects from our automatic stress response, our mind is also activated. This can cause anxiety and panic attacks. Until we release the charge, heal and transmute the energy and emotion of the original trauma or experience, it can continue to control us from the depths of our subconscious mind.

Anxiety is based in fear

Anxiety has its basis in fear. Sometimes the fear is real and warranted, and other times the anxiety we experience is the extreme result of a trigger from a past event. Being anxious from time to time is normal, especially if there is some uncertainty being experienced. However, feeling anxious all the time, even low level anxiety, can have serious detrimental impacts on all aspects of our mind, body and life in general.

Reiki can help

In order to shift the energy of anxiety, we need to retrain our mind and body to relax. We also need to let go of past traumas and negative emotions. This is where Reiki can help. Reiki healing is a heart-centred practice, and Reiki energy is life-giving. When receiving Reiki, this high vibrational energy will flow into your own energy field. Reiki can clear other people’s energy from you, and releases blocked emotions. 

Reiki shifts your energy and calms your mind

After a Reiki healing, it is common to feel a bit tired and emotional. This is your body adjusting, releasing and letting go of energy and emotions that you no longer need, creating space for fresh, high vibrational energy to flow in. Anytime you feel anxious or on edge, Reiki can also help you to relax your physical body. It helps to calm your mind, and remove negative looping thoughts. Reiki healing is incredible at lifting your mood, improving your quality of sleep, and easing your worries. 

Online Reiki classes

When I’ve felt overwhelmed and anxious, I turn to Reiki. If I’m in too much of a state to practice self-Reiki, I usually book in for a Reiki healing with my Reiki practitioner. If she’s not available or the timing just isn’t right, I have done Reiki classes online. These have proved very effective! This is why I’ve decided to create an amazing resource for anyone who experiences anxiety.

I have created an online Reiki healing for anxiety session. This is an on-demand distant Reiki and meditation, that anyone can access at any time. Throughout this session, I’ll talk a little about anxiety, then guide you through a relaxing meditation. I will then move into a calming and grounding distant Reiki healing. This Reiki healing is juicy and goes for around 30 minutes. You can lie down and close your eyes, grab a blanket, light a candle and enjoy. Once you set your intention to receive the distant Reiki, this incredibly healing Reiki energy will flow to you. 

Reiki has so many benefits to help with anxiety

You can re-watch this Reiki for Anxiety Reiki healing treatment anytime, as often as you need. It is wonderful to listen to at night while you’re drifting off to sleep, and just as powerful if you’re feeling anxious during the day. The whole family can listen to this Reiki for Anxiety session and receive the benefits. You can play it for your children if they are feeling overwhelmed and anxious. It might be interesting to notice and journal the effects in your children before and after the Reiki treatment.
